A little tip if anyone else has problems deleting the locked HamDrv.sys file in the C:\Windows.old\... directory tree after a Windows 10 upgrade.
You can either reboot the system in safe mode and delete it with admin privileges or simply follow this short guide to delete it in 1-2 minutes, by disabling the Hamachi service then the Hamachi adapter temporarily as follows:
- Open Computer Management by typing it into the main Windows search box or right-clicking on This PC from the File Explorer and selecting Manage.
- Navigate to Services and Applications then Services, select it and then click the LogMeIn Hamachi Tunnelling Service. Right-click this service and select Stop.
- Now open Network Connections by typing it in the main Windows search box or going through the Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network Sharing Center then Change adapter settings on the left.
- Right-click the Hamachi adapter and select Disable.
- Now you can delete the HamDrv.sys file in under the Windows.old directory. You will require sufficient privileges to do so. Make sure you fully delete it before the next step otherwise the file will be re-locked in the Recycle Bin!
- Now simply Start the LogMeIn Hamachi Tunnelling Service in the Services window, which should also re-enable the Hamachi adapter for you. If it doesn't then simply right click the Hamachi adapter in the Network Connections window and click Enable.
