Windows 10 Fast Startup Causing Hamachi Peers to have Yellow Triangle Icon

tl;dr

Restarting the Windows 10 system and Hamachi works fine. Shutdown, then power the system back on, and Hamachi was not working. Disabled Windows 10 Fast Startup and Hamachi started working properly again.

The Problem

Four (4) Windows 10 machines all have the following same behavior. This problem started at the end of last week. Been running Hamachi on about 20 computers since 2013 on a Premium Network. Updated these computers to Windows 10 around January 2016 and everything was fine until last week.

Install / reinstall Hamachi and everything works. Rebooting laptop and Hamachi starts back up perfectly. Shows all the Peers in the list and everything runs perfect. Until...

If I shut the computer down. Then booting it back up after a shutdown, and the peers all show in the list with their IPs as online, with the green circle to the left. However, to the right of each Peer name there is the yellow triangle with exclamation point. It appears I'm connected to the network and Hamachi shows my IP address. The problem detail for the yellow icon says "failed to configure Hamachi network adapter." The adapter status shows no IP address, Subnet Mask, or DHCP server. I can reinstall Hamachi while it is running and everything starts working again. Reboot several times and Hamachi continues to work. As soon as I shut down and boot the system back up. Hamachi looks like it's running, but the yellow triangles with exclamation point appears next to each node name.

The Solutions Tried and Failed

Over the last several days I tried some different things, but all attempts had the same problems with the shutdown and power on.

  1. Reinstall while Hamachi was running.
  2. Uninstall and keep settings. Reboot. Reinstall.
  3. Uninstall delete settings. Reboot. Reinstall. Rejoin Network.
  4. Set the Logmein Hamachi Tunneling Service to Delayed Automatic Start with two restart attempts.
  5. Verified ports in the firewall were not blocked. As this was only four of twenty machines and that the problem only existed after a shutdown, I doubted this was the problem.
  6. Verified AntiVirus wasn't blocking a Hamachi service from starting. All twenty laptops have the same AV. Removed AV to verify it wasn't the AV causing the problems. Verified AV was patched to latest.
  7. Verified Hamachi was on the latest version, all Windows 10 updates were installed, and all system drivers were up to date.

I was typing this up to see if anyone else in the community had this issue when I thought to check the Win 10 Fast startup. Sure enough these four computers with the Hamachi Shutdown and boot up problems had the Windows 10 "Fast Startup" enabled. The other sixteen laptops already had fast startup disabled. Disabled Fast Startup on the four laptops and Hamachi started working perfectly again.

Solution to Problem: Disable Windows 10 Fast Startup

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings
