I recently installed Linux as dual boot for a Windows laptop. In Windows I already had a network. (You can find instructions for backing up your settings.) After installing the Linux software, I had an active "ham0" network adapter. But I wanted to use the same profile from Windows. So I stopped the service, renamed /var/log/logmein-hamachi to something else and then copied the Windows settings to the original folder name and restarted the service. What a clever boy I am. Except it didn't work. Well it sort of worked. Other computers thought I was online. But there is no "ham0" and I am unreachable. I looked at the log file but I didn't see anything to help. There are several more files from the Windows profile than in the original folder. I considered chucking some of them out. But I am really flying blind. And maybe I am trying to do something I shouldn't. If this is not possible then I will go back to the original installation and treat this as a different computer. Thanks in advance for any hints.
